Release the KPMG report on SML-GRA contract to Ghanaians; don't sit on it – Domelevo to Akufo-Addo

L - Daniel Domelevo , President Akufo-Addo - R

Former Auditor General, Daniel Domelevo is urging President Akufo-Addo to promptly release the KPMG audit report regarding the revenue mobilisation contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).

In emphasising on why the report must be released without delay, he stated among other things that, it would make the President more accountability to Ghanaians than shielding any wrongdoing within his government. Moreover, releasing the report early will not breed further negative perceptions about the fight against corruption.

In an interview on JoyNews' AM Show on Monday, April 8, Mr Domelevo said, "What I expected was that immediately the report was ready, it should be made public because the accountability is not to the President but to the people of Ghana. The money is people’s funds. So anytime those reports are ready, they must be put in the public."

Also, Prof. Gyampo has asked Akufo-Addo not to sit on KPMG’s report on SML/GRA contract exposé.

Background

On January 2 of this year, President Nana Akufo-Addo commissioned KPMG to investigate the contract between SML and GRA, prompted by an exposé by the Fourth Estate.

President Akufo-Addo has since received the KPMG audit report regarding the revenue mobilisation contract between GRA and SML.

It has been announced via a Facebook post by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Presidency, on Wednesday, April 3 that, the report was delivered to him on Wednesday, March 27. He further mentioned that President Akufo-Addo is currently reviewing the findings of the audit report and will in due course communicate his decisions to the public.
